Zimmerbräu hiking tip 1

Hike along Holzerbauer's Sattelweg to the wonderful Schwarzensee (716 m above sea level) and via the Wirersteig back again to the hotel.

Zimmerbräu hiking tip 2

"Stroll" in the tracks of St. Wolfgang and go on foot or by bike on a pilgrimage journey to St. Gilgen and Abersee, and use the little ferry boat to get across the lake and back to the hotel.

Zimmerbräu hiking tip 3

Take the water taxi or the liner to St. Gilgen and conquer the Zwölferhorn on the vintage Zwölferhornbahn. Head back to Brunn via Illingeralm, then through the Staudawald to the ferry for Greinz and then back to St. Wolfgang.

Zimmerbräu hiking tip 4

Take the ferry to Abersee, walk around Wolfgangsee in a south-easterly direction - the route takes you through Brinklingmoos conservation area to Strobl, from where the Bürglsteinweg takes you back to St. Wolfgang.

Zimmerbräu hiking tip 5 - for "intrepid walkers"

The big Schafbergtour lasts 9 hours – this hike is well worth it for the unforgettable view you get at the foot of the Salzkammergut and its wonderful lakes!

Follow the hiking trail to Mönichsee at 1300m initially, then proceed on the Purtschellersteig to the summit of the Schafberg. After a stop-off for lunch hike down to the Eisenaueralm and from there continue to Schwarzensee. Via the Sattelweg and the Holzerbauern you get back to St. Wolfgang again, where you can cool your hot feet in the Zimmerbräu's bathing area!

We look forward to welcoming you in person and advising you on all matters big and small with regard to "Hikes from the Hotel Zimmerbräu"!

Holidays in and around St. Wolfgang

St. Wolfgang in the austrian lake district (the Salzkammergut) is situated at the foot of the Schafberg mountain, where a rack railway, runs up the mountain. It is famous for the White Horse Inn (Hotel Weißes Rössl), the setting of the musical comedy in 1930.
The town and the lake are named after Saint Wolfgang of Regensburg, who, according to legend, built this pilgrimage church with a late Gothic altarpiece by Michael Pacher here in the late 10th century.
The lake has an area of 13,5 km2 and a depth of 114m is surrounded by the Salzkammergut mountain range – and the boats of the “Wolfgangsee fleet” will bring you to one of the 3 villages on the lake.
The crystal clear water provides a superb place for bathing and water sports.

Golf paradise
A golfers paradise which was established in 1933 awaits you, and the course of 18 holes offers you the most stunning local landscapes.

Mountain experience
Postalm, Schafberg, Zwölferhorn, Katrin – these are the surrounded mountains reachable by car or train and up there you have the most beautiful view of our region!

Sight seeing
Salzburg - the city of Mozart, the saltmine in Hallstatt,  the Dachstein Glacier region, Bad Ischl and the Kaiservilla – the Emporer’s summer residence, Gmunden with his castle “Schloß Orth” situated on the Traunsee lake, the styrian lake district – the “Aussee valley" and many more
