St. Wolfgang as a perfect starting point

for many adventures

Wondering what there is to discover in the region around St. Wolfgang?
What has to be on the bucket list for your dream vacation at Lake Wolfgang?

One thing right right from the start: Lake Wolfgang in itself is a sight to behold. It looks like a painting from a whole palette of aqua tones framed by imposing mountain peaks (Schafberg, Zwölferhorn, Postalm) and the three lovely towns of St. Wolfgang, Strobl and St. Gilgen. You already knew that the two federal states of Salzburg and upper Austria share this natural jewel?

To cut a long story short, there is an almost endless choice of possible excursion destinations and activities in the region of Lake Wolfgang. And there are activities for all tastes and all ages. In summer as well as in winter.

Schafberg cable car in summer

Get on the top with the Schafberg cable car

The Schafbergbahn takes its passengers up the Schafberg within 35 minutes. A ride on Austria's steepest cog railroad is an experience you shouldn't miss! The Schafbergbahn has been in service since 1893 and has since ensured that even less athletic contemporaries can enjoy the sensational view from the summit of the Schafberg in St. Wolfgang.

Boat trip on the Lake Wolfgang

The Lake Wolfgang boat trip has been around a little longer than the Schafbergbahn (since 1873). During a romantic trip on one of the 5 ships of the Lake Wolfgang fleet, you set off for new shores and head for the three towns of St. Wolfgang, Strobl and St. Gilgen via the waterway.
